Book Description:

It's fitting that they're reading Romeo and Juliet in class, because Raina Cohen's story is most certainly not having a happy ending. She'd ask her not-so-secret crush Jesse Ashcroft for his opinion, but the formerly close duo haven't spoken in weeks. Instead, Jesse's been hanging out with Nicole, who would happily ensure that Raina met the same fate as Juliet.

But thanks to meddling teachers, Raina's now stuck spending all her free time with the two people she's been trying to avoid. And with her mom breathing down her back about, well, everything, she's trying to balance family, religion, schoolwork, oh, and the simple fact that she can't get Jesse out of her head.

It's a slow journey to rebuilding their friendship - and possibly even more than that - especially with Nicole determined to stand in the middle of the road. But when Raina's father's job is put in jeopardy, it'll take the unlikely trio of Raina, Jesse, and Nicole working together to write their own stories.

Review:

An entertaining read. The story starts slowly, you'll get to know Nicole, Jesse and then Raina. I kept on reading as it contains so many really interesting characters. I was rewarded for my persistence. I enjoyed the character's personalities and the teamwork between all the side characters as well whether siblings or friends. I love the concept of having a healthy siblings relationships in this book.

I don't know that it's one of the book in series, later on I came to know that it's the second book in series but now worries you can read it as standalone too. I think the first book is all about Dean and Gracie story, so if you wanna read more about him you can definitely go for it. I love Ashcroft boys, they're so damn good.

Raina grew up in a strict jewish family, her mom doesn't like the idea of her studying in Tristan and also forces her to study in Jewish ideas. Also in her community girls shouldn't talk to boys, but Raina made some friends in Tristan and also she like Jesse who's not a Jewish boy. I got to know so much things about Jewish ideologies and their beliefs. Book represent queer characters also.

Finally this book is about Raina making friends outside of her community living in her own, deciding her career and all. I love Jesse Ashcroft and his platonic friendship with Nicole. I want to know more about Nicole part of story, but unfortunately this book is all bout Raina and Jesse, hope we'll get a book about Nicole soon.

Trikalpatru and 7 Tasks - Book Review

Book Title: Trikalpatru & The 7 Tasks
Author : Amit Sharma
Page count: 145

About the Book:

The story is about a 14 year old special boy named Trikal who's dreaming about battlefields, numerous watches and also a man in white. He's dreaming the same dream on the following day also, he informed his father about all this and in return his father advised him to say a sentence which later on made him realize a lot more things about time time school and its task. He met Brahma there and with the help of his advisor he was assigned with 7 tasks and should be completed by him within a time limit. In this journey he met other people who were living in different time lines and he got to know more about all these.

Review:

I was hooked really early, the book was well paced. Each task assigned to him was interesting and well developed. The writing style is easy to follow, and even comical at times. I really enjoyed the interactions between the characters. This was not a long drawn out read, it's a simple fast read and doesn’t give the reader a chance to get bored. Overall I enjoyed the plot. There's magic, mystery and intrigue.

I enjoyed the suspense that made me turn the page while Trikal was assigned with a task as they were racing against time. I was able to get lost in the pages of the story.

I'm hoping that there will be another book to follow this one, maybe. I would definitely recommend this for sci-fi fans, and anyone fancying something a bit different. Also recommended to young readers who're keen on reading about time dimensions, time controlling watch and black time.

Kiss Me With Your Doe Eyes - Book Review

Book Title : Kiss me with your Doe Eyes

Author : Monica Sahu

Page count: 158

Book Description:

It's been a while since the neighborhood singles have played a friendly match of basketball. The team is dwindling as the players pick courtship over the gray, concrete court. Instead of going on a date and spending my day off like everyone else, I'm baking cupcakes for myself and my newly single best friend.

My business partner keeps asking me to make a batch of my special recipe, for our cafe. But, I'm not sure if my "hangover-cure cupcakes" will be accepted by our clientele. Moreover, there's so much more to focus on. I need to hire a new intern. I need to find a satellite kitchen for our holiday pre-orders. And, most importantly, I need to politely ignore my dreamy business partner who makes everyone want to bite into his buns.

Review:

"𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐬. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐰𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐞, 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰  𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞"

This was one of those books that pulls you in before you even realize it's happened. It seems fitting, almost, given the trajectory and plot of the book, and the recurring theme of the small town vibes, taking hold of you and not letting you go. This book is a charming mix of romance, small-town  living, and a passionate protagonist with a tinge of thriller. Finished this book in one go without putting it down.

"𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘩𝘰𝘸, 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘧𝘦, 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘳𝘩𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳."

There were parts that made me smile, laugh out loud, and sad parts which tugged at the few heartstrings I have left. I became fully invested in these characters, including all of the side characters.

The only issue that I had with this book is, it  was like I was in the middle of something, like maybe I missed some introduction and it made me feel like part of this was a bit of confusion for me in some of the plot. And later came to know that it's a part of a book in a series. I need to cover the previous two books to know more about this. I really loved the story and the flow other than the above issue was well done.

"𝘐 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴. 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘴, 𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. 𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦"

Most importantly found my new fictional boyfriend here, J. Honestly this book kinda snuck up on me. The story itself was intriguing with some mystery elements and I kept turning the pages to see what happened next!  I will definitely recommend it! Looking forward to the author's next story, I really hope there's a sequel.

Review:

“𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬; 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐮𝐬"

Now, I'm posting about a book that not only sucked me in but also kept me bog down in the drama and angst. To be frank, I was pulled into this story from page one, ins't an apt description, I think I may have been lured in while getting to know about the plot and characters.

Book introduces us Inaya Mirza who never had an easy life, she's always struggled, either with being neglected by their own family, dealing with hatred and facing innumerable amounts of humiliation from her husband whom she once thought will protect her from everyone. The author portrayed her character as a strong, feisty, successful woman who never been one to let anything get her down. I just love how feisty Inaya is, she's not one to back down or scare easily.

I really appreciate the fast-moving storyline. Book starts with Inaya getting married to Aahil, whom she loved dearly in the past but also whom humiliated her so bad. One misunderstanding seperated them but after 10 years without option shw was getting married to him because of her father.

“𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘇𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁"

The book delves deep into their relationship, how the love-hatred turned into "touch her/him and die" Kinda trope. I really loathe Aahil at the beginning, he made sure to punish her and started throwing tantrums. Inaya tugged at my heart strings. She had suffered so much but deep down, she only wants to survive, loved and accepted, but doesn’t trust easily. There are so many over the top drama scenes that I was just hooked from page one!

“𝐄𝐠𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬. 𝐈𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝.”

I loved the found family concept, the book taught us to value friendship, relationship and family. Each of the characters had me curious, and I was hoping to discover more about them as the story unfolds. I loved the little ones, Ryan and Riya.

Also there's more than one love story here, I found myself curious about what is really going on between some of the side characters. I loved how the author portrayed brother-sister relationship, it makes me want to know more about Zayn's side of story. Also I loved the scenes where both Aahil and Inaya supported each other till the end, even though he acted like he didn't care deep down readers know how hard he's trying to contemplate it.

"𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨, 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐭𝐢."

The tension between them is off the charts, even when their enmity is at its height, you can just see deeper into it. Their interaction leave you with swooning over. So yeah it is one of those books!

I can't tell you enough to read this!

This book made me trust Farhaana's work and put her name in my "Auto-buy Authors" list.
